What do you charge for bulk bags of logs??

75 for a large bulk bag. People don't mind paying for a quality product. Seen some appalling loads being driven around lately! Don't sell cheap! All the hard work and sweat that goes into producing 1 load needs to be reflected in the price charged. I also purchase my cord so need to take that into account. If you get the wood free and sell it for peanuts then good on you, the customers won't care how long it took to produce. Needs to be more consistency between us all. There will allways be the odd side job bloke doing it for nought!

The only way we'll get more consistency between us is to stop using the term 'large bulk bag' :001_smile: and start using a measured volume i.e some part or multiple of a cubic metre. Also to specify whether this is a 'loose' or 'stacked' volume.

My customers look for three things.

1) Volume (specific related to Metre cube)

2) Seasoned (MC)

3) Hard or soft wood

Edit: Round here I get £70 a loose cube of seasoned hardwood. (tree surgery stuff)

I totally agree, I have been measuring logs, loose in a dumpy bag but heaped right up.

I'm cheapest in my area and can be as logs is not my primary income.

I sell softwood bags at £35, mixed bags 50-50 hardwood/softwood at £45 and hardwood at £55 all less than 20% moisture content.

I don't advertise I only sell through word of mouth or recomendation and I still sell enough to make it worth while doing, I could put my prices up and advertise but then there aint enough hours in the day to do to much!

Builders bags not a cubic metre but piled high all the same!! I have alot of local competition including the Canals Trust who sell there cheapest load at £3 more for basically the same load! They are staffed by volunteers and have sold £22000 worth over the last 2 seasons, I am cheap but too cheap or just undercutting and making money to reinvest in my business! The last two months have allowed me new climbing irons, new climbing saw this month its a toss up between 390xp or 395xp but thats a different thread all together!!

@ Arnie. Sorry didn't mean for the 'period' to come across quite so aggressively. Just my opinion that you are too cheap, for a bulk bag full of hardwwod logs @ approx 20% moisture £55 - should be more like £75-80

If selling by recommendation/word of mouth, I would try for a higher price. However, you know your market better than me so fair play, especially like the way you apply the income to kit.

@Albedo - I was making an assumption that it was a bulk bag, but I am allowed my opinion, nonetheless.

By bulk bag I think you mean you assumed it was a 1 cube bag... I got that fair enough.

But they come in different sizes as Genset posted somewhere... from about 0.6 cube upwards.

My hobby horse is getting people to state a volume, I don't care what they charge.

I took photos of how easy it is to mark one cube on your truck with a marker pen then chuck them on, will post later.

If I'm in the right thread... the OP's price would be top dollar for a 0.6 cube bulk bag:001_smile:
