Cap 6-15cm . Dark brown chocolate coloured with contrasting , light gills .

Flesh is creamy white turning brown in the stipe .

Habitat - On WAYSIDES and forest boundaries on CHAFF or ruderal locations in various types of forest .

Apparently the species is extremely difficult to identify positively however all are edible but unpleasant apparently . looks identical to the picture in my guidebook , timing july - october seems to fit also . :confused1::001_smile:

The only difference being the ridges in the stem.

 

Dont really get ridges in the stipe just fibrousy . I think your picture shows an older dried out / dessicated specimen . The one i showed will darken down the stipe and go the same way i would suggest . But i aint no fung expert could be doing with a pair of more informed eyes :001_smile:
