Advice sought

A friend had two trees at the bottom of his garden that he wanted removed to allow light into his garden, he approached a few tree surgeons who quoted for the job, one was given the job, the surgeon approached the TO to check if there was any TPO's on the trees he said there wasn't so proceeded to knock them down.

During the take down a neighbour complained (as they do), to the council who came out and confirmed that there was indeed a TPO on the tree's!!

By this time one tree was already completely removed and the second was just a pole!

Who is liable for this cock up, the surgeon, the TO or the owner?

I as a contractor i always check with the TO myself

At the end of the day if it's my contract I see it as it fulls on my shoulders

And if its Huntingdon in Cambs the TO is a helpfull bloke

U will have to play the waiting game and see what happens

Have u got anything the TO said in writing or email

Ps it can't be as bad the amount of big trees they are having out in godmanchester

Sounds like it will be a waiting game

When I phone Hdc up they ask for post code number of the house and what tree or trees I'm looking at reducing removing etc

The site plan of that house shows where the tpo trees are in the garden or close by

So can't see how a TO can get it so wrong

Neither can I personally, I'm a bit worried the 'tree surgeon' may be telling porkies as he has just gone a bit silent on my mate, not returning calls etc, after finding out there was a problem.

Oh well we'll see what comes of it.....
