This is a very cheap tow-behind splitter - 12ton force for 800 quid!

Any thoughts?

MD 12 Ton Horizontal Tow-Behind Petrol Log Splitter

I would rather buy a better quality second hand splitter than a cheap new one.

This may be worth a look if it doesnt jump up in price Ryetec Eco 80, Hydraulic Log Splitter, Petrol Log Splitter, Briggs And Stratton, | eBay

Current bid £675. Whoever pays that isn't getting a bargain; currently available new for £750 inc VAT & delivery, so a lot less than the ebay one if you're VAT registered.

As it looks exactly like the Chinese ones available for about £650-750 from a number of resellers (and the German one referred to earlier), I wouldn't put it in the high quality category myself!

(I bought one last year for £690 new from another seller; it splits OK, but bits keep falling off!)

Bid was under £400.00 when i posted link! But goes to show if you by a well known brand it will hold its value and you will get nearly what you pay for it back when you sell it.

I would personally have paid NO more than £500.00 for it!

Those chinese things are only worth about a fiver when you have finished with them thats if there still working. :confused1:
