hi all,

was shown this by a friend who owns the trees, he thought i would be able to ID but im not familiar with this one. it is around two mature beech trees in a woodland setting, ground is a bit wet on the bank. there is a large ring of it as shown (around both trees) and also the same fruiting bodys around base of both trees and on exposed roots close to trees. Is it an aggressive decay fungi? kind of decay? any info greatly appreciated.

also any recommendations on good tree fungi id books would be good to (i have principles of tree hazard assessment already).

thanks in advance

Pat
