value of standing Douglas Fir

We have a mixed woodland in north wales with an area of Douglas Fir. There are about 60 trees with an average dbh of 60-80cm. Access is good with forest track close by.

I was wondering if any body could give me an idea what it might be worth as standing timber? Or should I get contractors in just to fell and then try sell it straight to a saw mill? Open to all suggestions at the moment!

Best to present it as a standing sale to several parties and see what they give you per ton for the various different products.

 

Sounds like there will be some good saw logs in it.

PS For 60 trees, its not worth sticking a forwarder in so your probably looking at hand cutting and tractor trailer based extraction. All this eats into your potential profit.
