removing burrs effectively

I've a chunk of Birch sat here that's got some fairly big burrs on it and I quite fancy having a go at making some bowls out of the larger ones.

Is removing them as simple as just bzzing them off flush to the stem with a saw or am I losing too much of the burr by doing it this way and need to cut into the stem more?

Hope that makes a bit of sense :001_smile:

Also it was felled a good six months ago - have I maybe left it a bit long if I'm wanting to work it by hand?

Depends on the bowls you want to make,if you just cut the burrs off you will lose a lot of timber .try and take as much of the trunk off with it

6 months is nothing the wood will nowhere near be dry,but have a go at tutning a bowl while wet and lrt it find its own shape

Any spare let me know
