Cracked Willow

Nothing too exciting....a previously pollarded willow at work which had a small section tear out. When we arrived we could clearly hear the tree creaking and moaning, you should be able to hear it the vid...the cracks went up to the top and through the main stem in various directions so had no idea where the next failure could or would occur. we tried a couple of pull tests on the heavily weighted side of the tree to see if we could remove the risk of any more sections tearing out but no joy...decided to pollard the whole tree back to the main stem eventually to manage the potential risk to target area (nearby busy public footpath)....you can see the crack opening and closing as a gentle breeze blew through the remaining canopy (before we removed it)...as i said, nothing too exciting but thought it worthwhile sharing
