Coke is marvellous stuff for all sorts of jobs. Hadn't heard of de-scaling, but have often used to it free rusted bolts, stuck injectors and so on. It will dissolve teeth and meat if they are left in a glass of it too.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Just trying to think of an instance of when you'd want to do that now.......

If coke fails the brand of descalling stuff which is pretty good is called Killrock, been around for ages and you can get it in sachet or liquid form.

You could prob find it in any hardware shop.

Ah yes youre right,I,d have a go on it for a couple of hours.12" is alot I,d have to use my 11.5".

Limescale in the kettle.

 

In the old days they used to drill out a log and put a 12 Bore cartridge in and seal the end with dowel and put it on the stove.......

I think what's happening here is you southerners are under estimating how tough northern limescale is, everything up north is hard as nails.

 

Seriously though, what it is is there is very very little limescale in our water so it has built up a really thin layer over about three years of being constantly boiling ontop of the stove, it's probably only half a mil thick if that but is solid and won't move.

 

Me try shop remedy me thinks next, I;ll try that "Bang" and the dirt is gone stuff on telly

Maybe that the reason, cleaned mine last night and its shiny like new again!But then i do it regularly cos I hate the limey bits in the bottom of a cuppa
