I've got an old Stihl 041 AV- run it on a 20" bar and it starts and cuts great. I'm wondering about the oiler though, in as much as I don't think its putting out as much as it should. Can anyone tell me what I should observe if I run it without the bar and chain on, where should the oil be coming from ? Think it might be blocked behind the bar.....

On revving, you should see oil being pushed out of the oiler hole and running down the saw under the bar studs pretty much a few seconds after starting and running the saw.

Thanks Spud, in fact I'm just back in from taking the old beast to bits, and I found a hard lump of sawdust in the wee hole behind the bar...after I poked it out with a screwdriver and fired her up, the oil started running nicely! Brilliant! I thought it might have been something terminal! I love the 041!!:001_smile:
