Black fungi at base of whitebeam???

I have been surveying old whitebeam at a premises and there is lots of ganoderma 'artists bracket' on those, made one fall over and ill helath in 5 or 6 others. They appear black on top but have a pale underside that you can write or draw easily on hence the name. If they are old brackets you probably won't see the pale underside or be able to write on them. Fungi and effect pics shown.
