Ryobi Stihl compatable??

I dont suppose if anyone knows if the Ryobi expand it engine unit will run the stihl trimmer head??

I know someone who is selling one cheap and If it fits the stihl trimmer head I may just get it as a back up.

In short, no it wont fit. And, as its a Ryobi, you will need a 2lb hammer to service it.

I think you can make it fit with a 5lb hammer, an anvil and a forge. But otherwise, def no.

Ok great, I have a good selection of hammers of different sizes and weights so it should fit just fine.

I got it any way and if you cut off the notch off the plastic sleeve on the stihl shaft it fits and works perfectly.

Its the same square drive shaft and same diameter round shaft. If you are bothered about the plastic notch you can buy another for about three quid.

Probably not what Stihl want to hear but its a seemingly good cheap back unit.

That's interesting and maybe useful to know. Thanks for the update. The plastic end caps of the Stihl kombi system shafts are crap anyway and do nothing to stop the tool twisting. The plastic notch that holds them in just gets worn and the plastic bit ends up twisting round and round.
