We got a new strummer a few weeks ago and out an Oregon jet fit head with the 6mm jagged flexible des on, it does a hell of a good job! You could probably get the head and blades for under £50. You can come and have a look at ours and try it out too if you want.

just get the stihl 3 prong brush knife.

Stihl brush knife 300mm strimmer/brushcutter blade | F R Jones and Son

and you need the fitting kit aswell whitch is about £10.. this is the way forward for long grass like you say.

NOW YOU,VE GONE AND DONE IT LOL

i was dreading asking as i,ve already ordered a jet thingy but wondering have i done it wrong again dad :confused1: and ordered a pup i get confused easy these days as theres loads of blades about i was thinking the jet thing is more universal to be honest and user friendly

strimmer heads are all well and good but with a small engined machine such as a fs310 will be hard work in long grass.. thats were blades come in, the 3 prong blade on my even small machine (fs85) will tackle anything with ease and less strain on the machine in demanding jobs, ei long grass, thick grass, brambles ect..

hope this helps.
