Climbing gear for a newbie

Hey all

Im looking to buy some new gear cause at the moment im using a prusik and the foot lock technique to climb which I find a bit slow.. Can anyone suggest any sort of climbing equipment that I could buy in order to make climbing easier?

Did you see anything on Saturday you liked the look of? You should've asked to try other people's set ups, thats what the climbs are all about.

 

If I were you I'd start off by adding a pulley to your hitch. It can be done with the prussik but would be less complicated if you did it with a different hitch eg. VT, distel etc.

 

Are you going to the arb show this weekend? If so, have a good look at other people's gear and ask as many questions as you can:thumbup:

Ditto what Dan said..."Walk before you run"...perfect the basics before you steam into mechanical aids. Watching you climb at the Reccy i noticed you have the enthusiasm and spent more time than anyone going up and down the tree which is a great start. Definately reduce your friction at your anchor point then sort out your friction manangement.But for now you,re doin just fine with a Rope and a prussick.

Cheers guys unfortunately Im unable to make it to the arb show this weekend . ive been looking on the web for cambium savers and seen a few i like so ill be getting them hopefully before the next climb. Im planning to head off to the local woods for some practice soon.

If you go srt, shorten up that hitch, reduce the sitback and be super efficient:thumbup1:
