A Narrow Escape!

I,ve been scanning all my old photos of my various tree adventures over the years. This narrow escape happened a few years back..Over the road at the bottom of my parents garden grew a Poplar tree. When they bought the house in the sixtees,it was a healthy young tree...Moving on a few decades it grew rapidly to a great size..On this day there was a storm building and the winds began howling through it,s boughs..from the house i watched it swaying more than i had ever seen it before so i went to inspect. It was straining and creaking as the winds blew stronger and stronger....i turned to my Dad who i could see watching from the house, and from beneath the tree i shouted,"THIS TREE ISN,T HAPPY DAD!,I WOULDN,T BE SUPRISED IF IT GOES IN THIS STORM!!". At that exact moment i heared a loud BANG!...and without thinking i rushed backwards and as i came to a stop this whole Crown landed right in front of me,it,s tips on my toes!....The photo doesn,t really show it,s size...the fence is over six foot...The council showed up as it went right across a main road,i gave the owner a quote for the stem and chogged it down the next day.....A lucky escape methinks!

Good story and like you say a lucky one! Its funny how things like that pop up every now and again just to remind us all to take a step back and look again before doing. Always interesting how gut instincts are very rarely wrong.

Cheers,

Andrew
