I do miss getting the old rods out and chillin on a sunny afternoon.

Same here tony, a young family has put my fishing on the back burner for a while but i wouldn't have it any other way.

still manage a couple of trips a year to the pembrokeshire coast deep water spinning for the pollock off the cliffs and the odd night barbel fishing on the Teme but thats it really, it used to be my obsession for a very long time and a few of my mates are hardcore specimen hunters

just cannot beat spinning off the rocks in pembrokeshire. been there many times around st davids, lovely coast, last time had a 5lb pollock on a little spinning rod, really knew about that!

back to fresh water i would also go for floating baits, very exciting way of fishing, i get a bit restless sitting behind alarms. my fav thing to do is just have 1 rod and a pocketful of biscuits and wander around stalking.

which ever way you go, fish biting or not, enjoy!:thumbup1:

All anglers have different goals when out, so many ways to fish and stalking odd fish out from groups around the lake is one way to go, and means traveling light and hunting.

I am a VERY aggressive and greedy angler when on a lake of the sort your speaking of, I want competition in the groups for multiple catches and a busy time.

Floaters and stalking will see you a few fish for sure but youll be on the move a lot as one or two fish will see the rest spooking and you having to move on.

for this type of water higher stock? with orfe tench carp around doubles to singles i would get them fighting it with a steady stream of light baiting, draw them up in the water to fight for the source and train them to associate the incoming splashes with a fight for it. at the end half of the day start to slow the feed rate and go deeper, till at the last knockings your bottom fishing for the lumps lurking in the safe zone established by the mug fish above fighting.

this will see you bag the biggest fishes of the day and end it well for you.

always be in it to win it, play the long game in everything you do, you are not competing with just the fish, other anglers are drawing the fish away from you also, your competing with them too! part of the fun and games for me

Had a nice day down at the lake, the fish were off but enjoyed it all the same. You could see loads of fish but they weren't feeding, just up at the surface not doing much. It was stupidly hot, it's down in a dip so not much wind, we got baked. When we were leaving in the morning i got the sun cream out and put it on the side.......and then forgot it! Pollie got really really really badly sunburnt, I did tell her to sit in the shade but she was enjoying the sun.....I don't think she's enjoying the badly swollen legs and not being able to walk now though haha!!
