I sold a chainsaw of mine on ebay to a guy who owns a woodland containing ash and oak. He was trying to describe to me a larvae that he found on his trees. I don t know location of his wood but he just e mailed me a photo over. any ideas I ve looked about but most dont seam to be this dark colour.

I presume 1 . I ve now been told that this branch is between 20-25cms diameter and that once the larvae has been found on the host tree it survives for only 2 years max. I ve croped the pic he gave me to get as close as possible. I ll contact him for some more as i feel this is a interesting find.
