I didn't train all last week due to work. Three hours in the snow n sleet yesterday, started off indoors on the turbo with the intention of doing an hour and soon got fed up so I donned the clobber and went out.

I don't mind the snow but the sleet can get me down a bit. Also that stage of snow thaw when the slush still has enough of a frozen base to it to be lethal on the turns. Still I doubt I do as many miles a you as I ride mainly offroad - mixing it with the traffic and roadspray would just kill it for me! Much kudos to any roadies out in the recent weather!

Used to have a turbo many moons ago but it used to bore me to tears. I get the same with treadmills - just lose the will to put much effort in after half an hour of going nowhere!

First duathlon of the season yesterday - decent pace for me. Always nice to be on the first page of results!

Was going to take it easy on my lifts this evening but felt pretty good and ended up with an alltime deadlift PB. Couldn't ask for a better start to the season. Interval session might be a bit shorter tomorrow though...

What duathlon did you do?

I did one last sunday (10th feb) which was one of the wettest days weve had in ages!! It was horibble but only 2/10/2 miles so all over fairly quick. 20th in my age group out of 60 or so I think.

Done on a retro bike of course, a 1992 cannondale.

Sounds like a sprint duo - I did the same distances. Cold but dry! Only a smallish local one but British triathlon assoc registered as part of a series which brings out the hardcore nutters. 26th out of 74 so pretty content. Most importantly though I beat my mates.

1994 Zaskar. Well the frame, wheels and cranks/spds... A good nod to the past but not quite up to your standard.

I always work out my position as a percentage of the total number that took part, so you get a good comparison no matter how big the race is.

I came in at 42% of the field in both my age group (oldies) and overall.

You came in at 35% which is very good.

I've done three duathlons now and one super sprint triathlon which I did on the bike you picked up for me! I have converted it to a road bike, but now its for general use and I have bought a proper carbon road bike. Wiggins' fault!

I like that. Just outside the top third though - that's got to be the goal :D

Bet you got some sidewards glances cutting about on that Trekker...

Yep top third would be my aim for most things these days, not quite there with the dualthlons yet!!

I did the duathlons and last years mountain mayhem on the Cannondale, but the trekker is now a road beast, its really fast but heavy. So I used that in a short triathlon and was overtaking a lot of road bikes. Its just that it has 26in wheels so looks a bit odd, and it has a rear U-brake, but its 24yrs old so its geometry is far more like a road bike than a mountain bike.
