Hi, my partner took it upon herself to buy me a new jacket for work and in all her glory purchased a swandri coat (good choice i hear you say).

Its perfect wore it for 3 days on the trot in terrible rain and hail and satyed dry as a bone.

But when I got home about an hour ago I found out she had washed it "your not supposed to do that love" I have been told the natural oils in the fabric get washed out. Any ideas?

 

Oh yes and the worst thing is she spent £200 on the pissin thing.

oh dear hasit shrunk ? will it fit the kids ? try extreme ranger with hydrotex lining there good

Well I am a xl and its a medium - large now so it wont fit the kids or the cook.

How much is an extreme ranger gonna set me back?

Arrrrrrrggggghhhh, dont wash them!!! D'oh too late! No idea if they can be re-proofed either sorry. Coud try emailing Swanndri and see if they have any ideas.

Mate that does not help, Im waiting for her to tell me she used the joint account to buy it.

Just about to E-mail them but everyone I have spoke to said its almost impossible.

Sorry, gutted for you, I've had my swanny about 7 years now and jealously guarded it from the washer-woman. What is their fascination with chucking stuff straight in the machine when you come in from work?

Well andy, for some strange reason woman seem to think that because you have a dirty jacket that you wont want to wear it to work the following day to get it even more dirty.

But my real interest lies within the fact she has just confessed that the bloke in the shop gave her a sheet of paper and on that sheet of paper it says and I quote DO NOT WASH IN CONVENTIONAL MACHIENE what a prat.

But the extreme ranger looks good and its £100 cheaper looks like thats my next purchase.

I am also tempted to buy an oilskin jacket any thoughts?

Never wash your "Swanni" in a washing machine,you probably never actually need to wash one.If you get really foul stuff on one,crease it over at that point and give it a quick blast with a hose.Over the years they get pretty crusty,but that adds to the water repellencey.
