Many thanks for your help, do you get to hire your cherry picker out often?, I don't have enough work for it so the hiring out i hope will help with payments. John

:sneaky2:I might be wrong here but why would you buy something if you haven't got the work for it? Surely you have a business plan in place, which I would hope would have involved insurance.

Good luck anyway:thumbup:

When you invest say 25K in a chipper do we always have 25k worth of work in front of us? yes we have a plan but you know what they say about plans lol, buying kit imo is a calculated gamble end of story.........

Nope but we do have a plan, well I do...... just sounded a bit iffy with hoping hiring it out will help with the payments. As I said good luck to him, sometimes the kit gets work, most decisions in business involve a gamble.

Hi John,

I got my mewp to tow my chipper as my second vehicle. As such it is on nearly every job along side the landy & chip trailer.

I never looked it has a 'stand alone' and my pricing structure has not changed per job, just sometimes I get finished quicker and as said it tows the chipper.

I will do work that is offered by others, but this wasn't a thought on the purchase.

My insurance is for solely for my own business, not certain where the premuims would run on hiring (with or without operator) I suppose it would depend on how the work is done/taken on.

If I wanted to extend my services outside 'tree work' I know it would need a 'insurance re-think"
