Does anyone have any images / knowledge of this, apparently the local mills heated the river to a level that germinated fig seeds that found their way into the (open sewer) river.

 

Sheffield now had apparently mature Fig wood.

 

Cannot find it on google!

There is also Figs along the canals in Birmingham

 

For the same reason I suspect. Can't say as I've noticed them, but then I'm normally too busy trying to avoid the weed/toll islands etc to pay much attention to the trees.
