Hi I know this is a pretty old thread now but its very relevant as I am about to start my dissertation for my degree on this exact subject of included bark union development in poor clonal varieties of London planes. Bristol council is having trouble with them at the moment.

 

Will be interesting to see what happens. Any information anyone might have would be great as well.

Wuz gonna refer you to p.33 of Lonsdales 'Principles Tree Hazard Assessment & Management'...but as usual pipped at the post by Mr Sorenson...still makes a change from Mr 'Hamadryad'....aghhhhh!!!! (ha)

 

Loadsa problems with this when managing Cheltenahms tree stock previoulsy so we introduced a programme of prem. removal and replacement....usually with Lime (T. cordata)

I remember lots of them failing at poor unions here in chelters..
