Conference Ancient Trees in Urban Environments

Thanks Sean and Tony! This conference is a little revolution in itself. We'll see how it goes and where it leads to. I'll remember that Gandhi quote.

During the relatively short preparation time we have had many speakers and workshop leaders coming and going before the program was set just a short while ago. There are really quite a number of "tree people" in the world that would be wonderful to bunch together one day!

And yes Sean, pity that this planet is so big...

dont see where it leads Cilla, make it lead, be the lead, you started this because you and the others knew there was injustice, The tree was able to stand with good managment and some expense, expense that I am sure the local community would have raised if it was due to a shortage of funds (doubt it)

stick to your guns, tell it like it is and do NOT back down.

:001_smile: Tony - about the lead: Yes, we take the lead and direct. But you should see - each participant also takes a lead and makes the conference lead to somethhing even better than we expected. So - we are also looking forward to see where it leads!

CAVAT: Yes I know some about it, but have never used it myself, I have used Kochs since it is recognized by justice, but I think I will change next time. We have a discussion in Scandinavia on what to use since many years, I think we are ready to make one or two models become The Ones soon. Has been weakening that we use so many models. Is CAVAT The One in the UK now?

Cilla,

Although the article is in Dutch, you could also have a look at the Dutch Raad method.

Thanks Gerrit! This will be actual for us in SAF when we have finished this spring's projects, which are a few. There is a good project on its way that is comparing the various models used in this country already, and of course we are thinking of making it a bit wider, digging in all models used in Europe.

We'll for sure getting back here about this!

Alternatives to felling, by "active arborists"--very good!--INactive arborists would have so little to show... Looks like a great lineup--wishing you success!

Several valuation formulae in the US. Cost of Cure fits many situations; not sure if it would work for that oak that was by the road.
