Cheers for the link SJH :thumbup1:

Wow and there's me thinking it would be a pretty simple project :001_rolleyes:

Strange to read words like dynamic loading, tensile strengh, buckling and such coming from a bow makers and not an arbs.

Kind of whats put me of really lol, simple bows are relatively easy to make so I have been told though from most woods. If you check out the guys name on BCUK he has quite a few posts on bow making and he is getting really good at it too.

In my day's of archery I used to shoot a Bickerstaffe for fun, it was a tri-laminate Hickory, Lemonwood and Osage I think - it was a truly superb piece of art. It was sold when I outgrew it and I had a true self bow of Yew, it was a nicer bow to own but not so good to shoot. A laminate stave will always out shoot a self bow.

Never made one, but a few years ago Richard Head was the boy. :)

Ill make a look alike bow just for kicks

It could take a life time of practice to even get close to that guy but I learnt a while back that its having a go that counts.

Quite right fella I'll try get round to it myself someday.:thumbup1:

He still is... Richard Head Longbows, 30 years of making fine longbows, Longbow Arrows and Traditional Archery Accessories.

I have the book and the Ash blank but no time yet to invest in bow making:thumbdown:
