Afraid you may be a bit late this season, and it is in short supply. You could try calling companies like R Wilden, but tbh I doubt they'd have much now. They tend to stick with the more established firewood merchants, who they have dealt with for years. some estates may sell you some in cord length, epect to pay around 30 quid a tonne, plus delivery and vat of course

you wont get nowhere with any of the timber merchants jay, as andy said, they will be looking after their regular customers only from now on....short of sourcing your own wood from your own jobs you're going to find it very hard to get any sort of a stock going

I spoke to Lee Lightburn (Lakes lumber) today and he said people are paying £45 per ton delivered + vat (hardwood), if they can get it. Others are being told they can get it, but there's a 3 month lead time:scared1:.

Sorry but it doesn't look like there's much by way of good news for sourcing firewood.

Evening all. I've already thought where to get wood from if i clear out the yard. Don't think it's worth it, just make sure there's more work next year. If you buy it in surely the profit will be marginal?

Wood sales are really on the up for me, it's the only thing keeping me enthusiastic as other work is way down.

Too right Max!. If you've got it now, you're sitting pretty.

Firewood will not make you a king, but hey it's pretty stress free and money coming in is better than it going out.

damm right, I never wanted to be a king. I've been growing more humble the last months. There is something increasingly satisfying about working the oldest profession in the book. Must be nice working the lakes?

Some days the Lakes are belting, then you get 2 weeks of rain and they call it summer!. The weekend was like my avatar but sunnier with snow on the tops and I was digging drains in a coppice!. Can't win them all:001_cool:
