Timberwolf 150 ignition barrel

Went to use the chipper today and when I put the key in the barrel and tried to turn the ignition on the whole barrel moved with the key.

I tried tightening the nut against the barrel but the whole thing just spun together.

So I removed the exterior nut that tightens on the barrel thread and took the cover plate off and physically held the barrel and it fired up fine.

There doesn't appear to be anything for the barrel to grip against other than the nut when you put it back together.

Has anybody else had a similar problem?

It's a 2003 model.

When you unscrew the fixing ring on your ignition barrell you will notice two flat surfaces either side of the threads, these will locate in the control panel plate and prevent the switch from turning when the fixing ring is tightened.

It may be that over the years the flats on your control panel have worn to a round.

Hope this info helps, if you need further advice please give Timberwolfs technical support line a call on 01449-765820
