We are also 2-3 weeks thanks to good old lawnmowers! Silly season is upon us.

Like you jonesie we try and get pro users out as quick as possible but this time of year you can only do so much.

The same people every year bring their mower in late then fail to see your point when you say "where's it been all winter?"

Dave, knowing who you mean in cheltenham, all I would say is that I am surprised you go there at all!! They are a minor stihl dealer, so they have to buy stock from George Carr's in Bristol who are the regions distributer dealer. They are a lawn mower shop primarily and will doubtless be busy due to a sudden rush of muppetts wanting to mow their postage stamps but havnt fixed/services the mower from last year.

The shop in question has never given two hoots about those in the trade, they simply are not interested.

Problem is you need to take out a mortgate to go to Listers in Ciren for servicing, saw purchase yes as they buy direct from Stihl, but servicing is very expensive.

My best local advice mate would be cleeve garden machinery, not officially stihl repairers but they know there stuff!

I did try to give them a chance once apon a time to see if they would be helpful to the professional user as it were but as you say they dont seem interested. I did listen to one old boy selling a saw to joe public and the stuff he came out with was intriguing to say the least. The pressure washer is under warranty so they are the nearest to us, when i mentioned it wasnt purchased from them they did seem a little off!!!!!!! ( i did expect it to be slightly awkward)!

Yes that's a difficult situation, warranty is supposed to be honoured by any official Stihl retailer but because tools are not supposed to be posted that kind of implies that you (everybody) would buy from their local and get warranty issues sorted there as well. When that is not the case they get the hump. If I bought from listers (for example only) I would go to them with any warranty issues. In fact many years ago they replaced an 066 that I seized on day one!! I kind of missed the "running in period" and went flat out!! They replaced it no worries, quite surprised!! Imagine if I took that to different retailer!!

Its been 1 month now and i still do not have the machine back!!! I gave them a call to see 2 weeks ago and they said they would chase it up and so far not a peep back!

I have checked with Stihl head office and regardless of point of purchase the warranty is honoured at any dealer etc etc.

The record for the 'longest wait' must go to my dad who dropped off the dynamo for his motor bike in the local auto electical shop as he went off with the 8th army in 1942. After fighting his way across North Africa and Italy, my Dad came home after 3.5 years, looking forward to riding his motor bike again dropped by the Auto electrician but the dynamo was still on the shelf not fixed. The mechanic replied' he had been busy':confused1:

You are correct. Very busy time over here as well, however to the credit of my vendors here any warranty work gets pushed forward and back to the customer ASAP.
