076 carb problem

Got a brand new carb from stihl for my 076, when trying to start it i keep getting petrol spitting out of the top of the carb through the choke flap. I can get it started but it tempremental and wont start easily again unless i warm the plug. Its got loads of compression,so much it nearly breaks your wrist!.:scared1:Does anyone know what the problem could be?

were the same syptoms there before new carb

check its not just tuned mega rich..

 

if not check the carb inlet needle lever is set to the correct height...

 

 

if there was a problem before you replaced the carb, then it is most likely a worn piston skirt on the intake side.... so new piston is in order

Problem before new carb was the petrol would come through in fits and starts. Ran well when running but would run itself dry very quickly.It didnt spit the fuel out of the carb like it is now.

How do I know if the inlet needle lever is set to correct height?

if you take the cover off the carb the forked lever should lay about flush with the body of the carb. it does actually sound more like a back pressure problem .i.e stuck ring or scored piston-- did you check piston condition when you had carb off

the carb settings are:

high 1 turn

low 1 & 1/4

just because its a new carb it does not mean it is set up to run
