That is a very fine shot & a remarkable discovery, good effort.

 

I came across one on a post in Yorkshire some years ago.

 

Wonder why your big chap is out & about so early in the year, any local habitat disturbances?

 

Hows the local temperature been over the last couple of weeks?

It has gone really mild in west Wales, quite a bit of insect activity.

Not your average daytime garden visitor though.

 

Lots of bats in Pembroke though, medieval town with great stone work features.

I think the bat is about because the weather has been warm over the last couple of weeks, particularly at night. I have seen a couple of smaller bats in the past week when i have been shutting up the plucks. Temp is noticely cooler tonight, so i would imagine that they are all safely tucked up in there roost.
