Spliced some orange tachyon the other night for a long friction saver. it was tricky as hell! got it done after about two hours of kneading and hanging on the eyes to milk the cover over but boy are my hands sore. I removed the three blue/purple strands in the centre of the inner braid. should I have done this as I assumed this is there to keep the 'roundness' of the rope. is it always this tricky?

think im may stick to nice easy blaze/velocity for future projects!:blushing:

Removing the inner purple is ok, try splicing old Tachyon, you will find new a piece of cake!

this was a fairly old bit off old rope I havnt used for a while thats still in good condition. I ended up using a piece of velocity instead as the tachyon splice looked lumpy when I finished and I wasnt happy with it. nice one for the A OK on the three blue inner strands though. very useful for future stuff.

I snapped my wire fid today trying to splice tachyon, a piece is now stuck inside the cover and barbed in the core and I've thus far given up trying to get it out!! Tomorrow is another day!

defo the hardest ive done so far. seems like the outer braid is much tighter than most others.

Try beating the throat of the eye with a rubber mallet, milk the cover towards the eye then take off the rope and milk the cover theopposite way away from the spliced eye, beat the throat of the eye again then repeat.

I've eye spliced four Tachyon ropes yesterday, it is pretty easy once you've got the knack.
