Ive started storing logs to begin selling them next Autumn and ive noticed a few people about selling them at the side of the road from their van/trailer, etc. Is this legal or do i need some sort of license?

I think its the same as the burger vans in lay bys etc the council license it (and raise revenue). Mind you I know of at least one person who sells from roadside unlicensed and has never had a problem. If you do it that way make sure you've done a good risk assesment! Some councils are more pedantic than others.

I don't know anyone around here who would even apply for a licence to trade roadside, or even if our local council requires one? I've sold logs and plants and veg roadside for 24years without issue.

Depends on local council. Stoke you can sell from a lay-by. North Wales Police will have you and fine you, Nantwich area you will get fined. Looked into selling sticks roadside when on my holiday, appears each council is different, ring and ask. You can sell over a fence next to a lay-by if it is your land, it's all bonkers.
