Hi

Dont know much about the working of a saw so thought i would post here for advice. Basically my saw sounds like its goin to run out off fuel even when its got a full tank. Revs go high and it dampens or cuts out completely. I though theres maybe a blockege somewhere and its not getting enough fuel. Any you guys knw why this may be happening?

Cheers

Deni, pm spud on here he's the man for saw problems :thumbup1:

Cheers Rob.....one of the main problems with the 346XP is the rubber carb boot - older ones tend to crack around the impulse connection - where it plugs in to the intake connection on the cylinder head.

The carb boot where it joins on to the cylinder head should be connected to the cylinder with a metal ring clamp. If it has the older plastic clamp, it may have an air leak around the boot.

Other than this it may just be the typical fuel pipes gone soft, dirty fuel filter, carb needs a good clean internally etc.

Just done one where the metering arm was 20 - 25 thou from the casting edge where it should be 0 - 3 thou - similar symptoms.

Don't know where you are but if you want it fixed, PM me - I run a hot 346XP and have run 245 and 350 huskys so know the range well - my 357XP is the next saw to "breath on"

Good luck - sounds like an air leak/carb problem.

Had a look at the clamp today and it seems to have the metal one on it. I started it up today rev'd it a few times and left it to run for a while and everything seemed fine, got some small connnies to fell tomorrow so will see how it holds up and take it from there, knowing my luck as soon as i get it out the van it will start with its nonsense again, cheers for the help though.
