New 20 chain

Today I put a new chain on my 200t, it's apparently been designed for the 201t.

After a quick moan to the local dealer that the stihl climbing saw chains they stock are rubbish, I've been going elsewhere and getting the oregon ones which for a while which are much better imo, but mine snapped on me and needs must..

Anyhow they gave me one of the new designs for the 201. I think it's basically a full chisel chain with the safety bumpers.

At first when i saw it I thought they'll file off lovely and that will be one mean chain! but having used it today (given, it was only on lime repollards) I am very impressed, very smooth cutting, no skipping on the finish and the saw feels more powerful so after a bit more testing (next decent fell) I think I may go back to stihl for climbing chains!:thumbup:

Yes that's the new PS3 full chisel 3/8 lo pro chain which is pretty good (I tried it over the weekend)...

Must admit though the other 3/8 lo pro chains Stihl do I've also found to be pretty good - what was it about their performance you found lacking?

I think it just felt like they didn't like cutting, there was just something lacking in their performance.

Also when doing a finishing cut they would sometimes skip a little before biting , leaving a slight scuff on the tree, not something I had encountered until using these chains.
