Set yourself up a drop test? Drop 80kg weights from 1m above where the splice is anchored to, so they are effectively falling 2m before being caught. If it doesn't break you know it was strong. Don't use ones you've tested, I would say.

I tested my first splices with a game of tug of war with a 3.5t truck and the work van. In the end the van took a running start and the rope snapped between the splices (had one on each end).

Hey folks,

 

anyone know where i could do some break tests. Can't seem to find any test beds willing to help, all want loads of samples n loads of money.

 

Any idea's?

 

Have you treid NARC in Kendal, think they have spots country wide, would be ideal, put NARC in search engine and it will bring up a list of spots:thumbup1:
