Pole rescue 2 or 3 man.

3 man lower the casualty with a belay system.

If you use a karabiner for the false anchor, your instructor should highlight that you are using your rope beyond its recommended bend ratio.

 

what would you use instead of the two karabiners I'd been advised to use?

You should use a running bowline as a backup when taking the top out of a tree as it will give you an escape route if the stem splits as the top drops.

When taking out tops i always have my flipline attached to my bridge (never the side D rings) for this very reason, If it does split then it stops at the bridge instead of squeezing your guts out your mouth which i guess aint pretty

Yeah David, I do the same with my flipline but also have the running bowline on my rope.

For training sure, but in cs38 itself what is the recognized practice for setting artificial anchor atop the pole to enable pole rescue.. I'd been told that a tape sling with two karabinas (one gate each way) was the method but now I'm a little unsure and don't want to make any needless mistakes in my 38 hence all the questions.

Yes you can use 2 karabiners back to back on your assessment.

When contracting I always have small fixed cheek pulley with me.

In a real life rescue you use whatever you've got.

You probably wouldn't even mess about with karabiners back to back and only use 1.

Helps loads mate.. I'm a worrier and as such get all twitchy before tackling assessment's or tests of any kind, helps me get all the niggles out the way before the actual day so I can just glide through without over-thinking.... That and I know it makes me a safer worker.
