When I first got my unicender I also got a croll and chest strap. I thought it would give me an advantage and also Lets me upright. The disadvantage I find when I unclipped the croll to work it sometimes became go tight and would pull on the shoulders and neck. I also tried the croll free floating With the pantin on the other foot.

The system I prefer and use is- ISC hand ascender with a foot loop with a revolver, unicender no bridge, lanyard over the shoulder to unicender, finally pantin on right foot.

There are lots of combinations!

Thanks for that information, Drew. One of the things I have always liked about the Uni is its ability to grab the rope fast in a fall or a slip and not shred the rope and that it is safe to use with the arborist ropes that can absorb shock much better than the static kernmantle rope used with toothed ascenders.

Yes there are!

If your Unicender spends most of its time on your bridge, you would find the tail trapping mod of this thread most useful.

Not sure about the LOLER though, I will ask.

Hey, Drew. One of the things I have heard on toothed vs. non-toothed discussions is that the toothed is designed to shred the rope instead of cutting it and by doing so absorb more of the shock load without total rope failure.

Have you found that to be true and if so what % of strength did the remaining damaged rope possess?

Oh my god, this becoming impossible. I'm totally sold on the SRT system, I just need to make decisions on which components to buy.

However, with so many options being implemented with so many gear variables it's becoming a mine field. I guess I'll just get all of it! :laugh1::thumbup1:

Well, start with a hand ascender, foot loop, dmm revolver and a pantin. Then when you decide buy a UNI or RW.....or both.

Well I have a pantin, revolver and a lockjack. Strikes me that the best way forwards at the moment would be a hand ascender with foot loop and a RW.

Only thing holding me back is I've got no money at all right now.
