Firewood and woodworm

Started storing dried firewood in our integrated garage so that I don't have to go outside on a wet night to get some more. Just wondering if there is much of a woodworm risk with this. Stored on shelves i built in the garage.

I would have said so although I am far from an expert in this field. I had logs kept in a basket near a fireplace into early summer that put very aggressive woodworm into a picture frame of ours some years ago. I took if for reframe, at 8am I had about a dozen holes, by lunch about 20 !!.

Get it out in the spring or somewhere where there is no wood to infest.

The critters that lay the eggs that hatch into worms are around us all the time. If you have wood that is appealing to them then they will find it whether or not you store logs.

If your garage timbers and shelves are of treated wood then they should be safe.
