A good customer of mine called to day and said they have had a tree fall over can we sort it ASAP if it had gone the other way would have mad a mess!!!

 

A lot of the trees are in decline and are very near the house

I would say 90% of the trees close to the house have this around the base

Also around the base of a very large beech very close to the house

So I think a bit more investigation work is needed

Not sure as around the beech as most of it had been damaged by footfall or animals

on the beech pholiota squarosus, the birch may have gone to armillaria mellea from my experience, the fact you mention animals damge is important urea from dogs etc repetativley at the base of trees pre disposes a tree to armillaria IMO
