Combi can leaking

Any suggestions on how to fix a split in a Stihl combi can?

 

Its only about 5mm long and 2 mm wide when opened up, but plenty big enough to lose a load of fuel when filling up.

 

The split is on the angle of the spout and the main body of the can.

It’s made of pollyprop so a soldering iron and some bailer twine for filler

on a clean and empty can, I've managed to repair a hole by melting some plastic onto it and then using a heated up nail (or similar) to blend the edges together. It was the oil side though so don't know how well it would work on the petrol side.

great idea, dont have access to any bailer twine tho.. could i use strim wire?

For filler, you can also use a "P-tex candle", used for making repairs on alpine skis, see Jons Ski Tuning - Base Repairs

 

But you need to clean and de-grease first, and open up the hole using a soldering iron.

 

Alternatively, use a hot-glue gun for filler.

I am pretty sure the dog doo flicker has a nylon line, polyprop is a bit on the soft side.

 

Blue 3 strand rope is polyprop

Yup, done it with successful result. Not totally sure about the chemical stability of the hot-glue gun material, though
