Not really related......the point i was trying to make is this (as there seams to be a bit of hard felling agains bigger companies)

A big tree firm is a small tree firm that has grown, because they take time to look through said paperwork ect because they understand the importance of moving with the times. They then become more efficient and understand the paperwork betta. Not because they have unlimited pots of cash and employ "geeks" but because they have put in the hard work.

Yeah thats one way of looking at it. But large firms spend so much time producing paper work and rubber stamping everything when it comes to job time there is nothing left in the pot so they get clueless agency staff in. Does a skilled apprentice served employee need to write or read 2 hrs of guff to carry out a job he has done without incident for 20 years.

Spot on, one example was a truck driver dropping off some road signs to a site my son was working on. The trucker told him, 30 yrs ago all he needed was a HGV but now he has a whole wallet full of different tickets all to do the same job.

It's not the regs I have a problem with, it's the rafts of different authorities. I read an article in a gamekeeper mag on all the regs to dispose of a rat.

But there's more, anybody with an under 18 yr old on site could be subject to child protection regs, on it goes. I can't see how a small company can compete and comply with ever increasing rules, laws & regs that often have no logic.

Rant over:thumbup1:

And than all at once for no apparent reason the system will collapse and the technocrats will wonder went wrong and than anyone in charge that's left will call out for an investigation and next time there will be twice a much paper work! It is a shame there is so much repetition and duplication for the sake of so many folks that would have a life otherwise for the sake of having a Job?.
