Think I'm going to go back onto stihl two stroke oil, saw run ok had no problems with any except the MS170 oiling the exhaust up and I think the Husqy bad starting problem is down to carbon build up below the piston ring. So the piston ring may be sticking, it's nice and wet with oil with no wear or cylinder score at all.

Going to clean everything up and go back onto stihl oil :001_smile:

fairy nuff deano, good experiment...

..curious, do you reckon (what with the superior lubrication of castor) a leaner mix would have worked without causing the excess carbon build-up? i know there are some new fangled 2-stroke oils that claim 100:1 is all that is needed (amisoil rings a bell)

It probably was mixed too rich at 50:1 but I haven't got the bottle to mix it any leaner :001_huh:

I know with stihl you can mix it richer with no ill effects :thumbup1:

too true, not something you want to experiment with (on your own saws):001_smile:

i'm a dino-oil man to the end, its always done its job well, and the smell, a slight blue haze in the air and greasy face at the end of a long day is all part of the fun

This stuff gave bonkers peformance but unfortunately imo stinks like crap - literally! Kept thinking I'd stepped in dog doodoo.

Former life commissioning base load power gens revelealed this brand to be frankly the best. I've tried the 15W40 in a few diesels and the transmission lubes in various boxes and the results are undeniable. Too pricey long term tho...
