Looked at a Redwood today which has a cable installed but the owner is not happy with it, at the moment it hangs loose but is cable tied to the odd limb, would it be better to have a more secure attachment? The cable runs straight into the ground at the base of the trunk, I have been told that this is perhaps not that a great idea and that grounding a fair distance from the root system would be more ideal, also the cable is coiled to allow growth at the base, the owner would like the coil aloft probably as it's a little unsightly and also to deter metal thieves, any thoughts?
