Hi all

I have a predator 450 and i need to tighten the belts.

Manual i got with it mentions checking the belts are correctly tensiond but nothing on how to actually do it.

Mine popped of yestereday, i have put them back on but there is atleast 1 1/2 inches of slack and when engaged they seemed to flap around a bit.

Can some one give me a quick breakdown of whats needed to adjust them.

Many thanks

Jose

Right Jose, take the belt cover off, then loosen the four bolts holding the engine down and use the gadget between engine and fuel tank(?) which pulls the engine block back toward the operator thus tightening the belts. You must ensure that the drive pulley on the engine is properly in line with the belts or one belt will be minutely tighter than the other. If you have to swap the belts, change the set as a matched group.

A quick read of the ops book should reveal that, but, I used to tighten belts so that with moderate pressure, one could push one belt down to two belt depths, mid span. Otherwise, a deflectionoetometer may be purchased from your nearest belt supplier.:sneaky2:

I don't think that I ever tightened the belts on our demo machine when we flogged them!
