The wages are low because it is legally a college (further education) and not a uni (higher education). So the maximum for a lecturer, no matter what quals they have, if they are titled as lecturer the wages aren't brilliant. If you start getting higher such as senior lecturer and researcher then that's when the numbers match.

 

It's a shame really. Because people like Andy Hirons and Duncan Slater are brilliant teachers with a real love for what they do and have a great deal of knowledge.
