Field maple?

Depends what the market was like down your way. I think £30 is a little much for pop but it costs the feller the same in time and effort to fell and process as it would an ash, birch or whatever else. I have never bought it personally, but we remove the odd bit from site from time to time so mix them in with normal loads.

It was cut as part of the management policy so was cut to make way for other trees to expand. Theres several decent stacks which i may be able to negotiate a very good price for but not really needed as i have tons of other wood to go at. Just another option if someone asks for something different. Would you only recomend it for woodburners? May take a bit to chop and let dad try before i gamble on it! Would it be ok to log it and store in builders bags, or would it go mouldy?

I have been burning pop in the showroom this week, wedges cut when trees were felled that I picked up in May time. They had laid on the ground for over a year. They simply burst into flame almost immediately.

Perhaps that's why it's used to make match sticks! Why not chop it small and sell it as kindling?
