Using the pulley for a slack tender is far more energy saving than using it to reduce the friction of the ring.

I use a friction saver exactly like that and i like it:thumbup:, only thing was today i didnt put the ball on to retrieve it and i had to climb the tree a second time to get it back:thumbdown:
