I have a genuine brand new crankshaft still in box.

Bought it 'just in case' a couple of years back then last year the piston/barrel let go - so no more need.

Can't remember what I paid for it but if you find the cost of a genuine one I'd be happy to part with mine for say 40% of 'their' price.

just out of curiosity, how old is the saw and has it done a lot of work?

only ask as i bought one early this year and wanted to know the life expectancy of them!!!!

Hard to tell with saws, more on work done than years but if it has good compression and runs ok it sounds like a 'goodun'

I brought my old 266XP from a guy 100miles away. I let him start it but it would go (hi tickover catch not on) - then it did, I wanted him to run it with me standing back and listen to the motor - sounded ok (from his pulse rate the compression was ok). the bar was worn, some parts changed as a truck had backed over it, I changed a few more, without getting technical.

Now it runs 'brill' really good saw, when using it it feels like a new saw it's that good. I downloaded a parts list as some parts also fit different saws eg, alot of 266 parts also fit a 61, so it may be the same for your saw, as many models are not supported.

I used Greenstripe but I need to know any other Husky spares suppliers. :thumbup1:

Adam , my saw is a 2000 model and has had a fair bit of work mainly cutting oak and beech . I service my saws my self but wasn't expecting this to happen but after all its done a lot of work in 10/11 years I've had it . I bought two Makita saws at the beginning of the year a DCS520 and a DCS7901 and i can not fault them, but i am still a big Husqvarna fan.

Blazer, try GHS (Garden Hire Spares) i just bought some non genuine parts for mates Stihl MS260 which blew a piston and cylinder. Ordered parts sat morning and they turned up yesterday ,and they do Husky parts for most ? models. Stihl nearly back together already. :thumbup1:

I'm more of a Stihl & leg man myself - confirmed by this years Stihl calender:001_tt2:

I brought my old Husky 266xp did some external work on it , no top off etc and I'm very impressed. I have brought some spares from GHS but it's a bit random whereas Green stripe seam to stock the lot but cost more. I'm going to get a spare piston for the Husky GHS 20quid against nearly 90 quid = worth a go.

I do all my own servicing used to do bikes and heavy engineering in the past, bit of a 'love - hate' thing going with being under smelly trucks but once I get started I love it. Changed the propshaft centre bearing and U/J joint on the L200 yesterday, tip- sort of controlled agression.

Good luck with your saws
