This is the kind of machine i was thinking about i already have a log splitter but i could do with another way of cutting them apart from a chain saw on saw horse.

not sure if the link works properly

Is there any way of making sure the logs are cut to the same length each time?

i'm not to sure how it works

I'm struggling to understand how they work as well.
Am I right in thinking that whilst a firewood processor would saw down through a long piece such as a branch, this guillotines through the branch?

Yes, in essence. It works by slicing through under pressure. It's designed for processing timber with contaminants in, that would otherwise render a chainsaw blunt.not used one, but its tempting as i process an awful lot of fence posts for my fire

I'm with you.
I was struggling to understand the point of them when you could cut with a chainsaw or firewood process them just as easy. I can see that they would be very useful in those situations.
