Ash tree ident help

Thanks RobArb, I will myself delve deeper into the mysteries of ID. Trouble is my memory is shot, I often recognise things but forget their names and vice versa! Trying to do too much methinks!

 

Im interested to know what that big book of leaves is, is it a purchase or a collection you have put together?

Its an actual book, called the big book of leaves, its got about 600 species in there with just leaves and descriptions of leaves, its good for the more obscure ID queries you may come across.

 

I forget who the author is I'll have a look when I get in

Thanks Robarb, for your break down on your conclusion & books that you find useful. Best of luck in your study's. I have much the same problem as evergreen in my ability to retain things I read. Good ref books are invaluable.

 

Look fwd to your eventual data base of leafs, will that also include winter buds?

 

A fine job of ident with the poor pic quality & lack of other info. These were all I had to go by too & lack of good books & a knowledge of how to use them properly yet.
