I was wondering the same, going to play about with a length of Marlow boa 9mm. Surprised most people will recommend an 8mm for friction hitch, best knot for VT?

Posted

all depends on what rope and hitchcord you use. as they are so work so different on different ropes, sizes and cord.

i tried loads of different ropes and hitches,8mm and 10mm Distel/knut/vt etc etc etc and so on with ropes. mainly around 11-12mm, due to weight and finally decided on Tachyon 11.5mm with 10mm bee-line. at 1.4m in length tieing fisherman's with good tails.

hope that helps, but as a gernal rule 1.5m is a good length.

Cheers MOG
